Our Level 3 Salsa classes are for those with a minimum of nine to twelve months of regular class attendance of our course programs or elsewhere.
At this stage, leaders should be comfortable with rhythm and picking up routines and will be working on smoothening their signals for the followers as well as and adding more style and flair to their dancing.
For the followers, this would be the time to work on styling, lightness, and elegance as well as responding to the leading accurately and without disturbing the flow of the dance.
Your instructor will be able to advise when you are ready to progress to this level and will invite you to join in the Intermediate Salsa courses. If you are coming with experience dancing elsewhere, please get in touch to ensure this is the correct level class for you.

Great classes with friendly and supportive teachers! The group size is just perfect so that the teacher can look at everyone and correct any problems during the class. I love the Salsa outings organised by the school too where we all go to a Salsa club and dance the night away.

FAQs

What are salsa intermediate classes?
Our salsa intermediate classes (Level 3) are designed for dedicated dancers who have moved beyond the "thinking" stage and into the "feeling" stage of dance. At this level, we transition from learning isolated moves to mastering the flow, musicality, and intricate styling that defines an advanced social dancer.
-
Who is this level for?
This course is for students with a minimum of nine to twelve months of regular class attendance, either through our progressive programs or at another reputable studio. Because the pace is significantly faster, your instructor will personally advise you when you are ready to progress and will invite you to join our salsa intermediate classes.
-
What is expected of "Leaders" at this level?
At the intermediate stage, leaders should be fully comfortable with Salsa rhythms and picking up complex routines quickly. The focus shifts to:
Smoothing Signals: Refining your lead so it is clear, subtle, and effortless for the follower.
Flow & Connection: Moving seamlessly from one combination to the next without breaking momentum.
Flair: Adding personal style and musicality to your turn patterns.
-
What is expected of "Followers" at this level?
For followers in our salsa intermediate classes, the focus is on elevating your presence on the dance floor through:
Elegance & Lightness: Perfecting your balance and posture to move with grace.
Accurate Response: Developing the sensitivity to respond to complex signals instantly without "back-leading" or disturbing the flow.
Styling: Integrating arm-work and body movement into the dance without losing the connection with your partner.

I’ve danced elsewhere—how do I join this level?
If you are coming to us with experience from another school, welcome! To ensure you are in the most suitable salsa intermediate classes for your ability, please get in touch before booking. We may suggest a quick assessment or a taster session to see which of our Intermediate programs fits you best.
-
What happens in a typical Level 3 class?
These sessions are high-energy and technically demanding. You can expect a deep dive into:
Complex Turn Patterns: Multi-spin combinations and intricate hand-work.
Shines: Sophisticated solo footwork that challenges your coordination.
Technical Mastery: Exercises focused on core strength, spinning technique, and weight transfer.
-
Is there a dress code for intermediate salsa?
While there is no strict dress code, professional dance shoes are now essential. The speed and technicality of salsa intermediate classes require shoes that allow you to spin with precision and protect your joints. We recommend breathable, smart-casual clothing that allows for a full range of high-energy movement.
-
How long should I stay in Intermediate Level 3?
Most students stay at the Intermediate level for a year or more. Because our syllabus is constantly evolving with new combinations and variations, you can take these courses repeatedly to continue expanding your vocabulary and refining your technique.

What is your cancellation policy?
Course fees are non-refundable. Because we run progressive courses with limited spaces, your booking secures your spot for the entire duration of the term. For more details on our policies, please see our full Terms & Conditions here.
