FAQs
-
What are ballroom intermediate classes?
Our ballroom intermediate classes are designed for dancers who have completed our Improver syllabus (A & B courses) and are ready for a deeper dive into the world of partnership dance. These courses are structured in a progressive format, allowing you to continuously build your repertoire and become a truly confident, versatile dancer.
-
How does the Intermediate 1 level work?
Intermediate 1 Ballroom & Latin is the direct follow-on from our Level 2 program. This level is comprehensive and designed to be taken over the course of a full year. It includes six distinct courses, each covering a different syllabus. This ensures you strengthen the dances you already know while being introduced to the remaining five dances from the Ballroom & Latin family: the Foxtrot, Samba, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, and Paso Doble.
-
What is the focus of Intermediate 2 ballroom classes?
Our Intermediate 2 level is for dedicated dancers with a minimum of 1.5 years of experience in regular ballroom intermediate classes. At this stage, we move beyond basic patterns to focus on expanding your vocabulary of movement and technical exercises. This level focuses on form, styling, and that "pro" look. Because the syllabus varies each term, many students take Intermediate 2 repeatedly to continue their growth.
-
What happens during a typical intermediate class?
Each of our ballroom intermediate classes is carefully balanced to improve every aspect of your dancing. A typical session includes:
Sequence Steps: Learning new, sophisticated choreography.
Freestyle Dancing: An opportunity to practice lead/follow by putting together everything you have learned in previous levels.
Technical Exercises: Targeted drills to improve your balance, posture, and dance ability.
-
Do I need a partner?
We continue to rotate in our ballroom intermediate classes, which is essential for developing the high-level lead and follow skills required for freestyle dancing. At this level, you can also begin to switch roles - learn to be a leader if you normally follow and vice versa.
-
What should I wear?
At this level, professional dance shoes are essential. The complexity of the footwork and the speed of dances like the Quickstep or Samba requires the specific support and sole-grip that only dance shoes provide. Smart-casual, breathable clothing is recommended as the intensity of the dancing increases at this stage!
-
I’ve danced for years elsewhere—can I join the intermediate level?
If you have at least a year of experience but are new to our studio, please contact us. We want to ensure you are placed in the most suitable ballroom intermediate classes so you feel challenged but comfortable with the terminology and styling we use.
-
Who are the instructors for the intermediate level?
Our intermediate students are taught by our most senior instructors. These professionals have extensive backgrounds in high-level competition and television, providing you with the expert technical insights needed to transform from a "student" into a "dancer."
-
Where are your ballroom intermediate classes located?
We host our Level 3 courses at our premium central London locations, including Euston, Kings Cross, Westminster, Marble Arch, and Baker Street. You can find the specific course dates and venue details in our booking table.
-
What is your cancellation policy?
Course fees are non-refundable. Because we run progressive courses with limited spaces, your booking secures your spot for the entire duration of the term. For more details on our policies, please see our full Terms & Conditions here.
